The global methanol market was worth US$ 24.7 Billion in 2018, registering a CAGR of 7.7% during 2011-2018. Methanol (CH3OH), commonly known as wood alcohol, is a light, colorless and volatile liquid alcohol with a distinctive odor. It is the simplest type of alcohol and consists of a methyl group linked with a hydroxy group. Earlier produced by the destructive distillation of wood, methanol is now prepared by directly combining carbon monoxide gas and hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst. It not only has a low rate of evaporation and radiant heat energy but is also miscible in different solvents like water, alcohol, ether and ketones. On account of these properties, it is widely used as a general solvent and to produce resins, pharmaceuticals and perfumes.
Market Drivers:
Since methanol is readily available and extremely efficient, it is extensively used in the automotive industry as a transportation fuel and antifreeze agent for automobile radiators. In addition to this, it is employed in the manufacturing of Dimethyl ether (DME) and Methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE), which are safer alternatives to traditional gasoline. It also forms an essential component of biodiesel and is used in internal combustion engines. Apart from this, the alcohol also finds numerous applications in the manufacturing of formaldehyde, acetic acid and methyl acetate. These chemicals are further used in the production of adhesives, paints, plywood, solvents, foams, plastics and explosives. Furthermore, since methanol biodegrades easily and is eco-friendly in nature, it is preferred over counterparts like crude oil, gasoline and diesel. According to estimates by IMARC Group, the market is expected to reach a value of US$ 48.3 Billion by 2024, expanding at a CAGR of 11.1% during the forecast period (2019-2024).

The Oman PVC pipes market grew at a CAGR of around 7% during 2019-2024. PVC pipes are produced using a durable plastic resin, known as polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which is the third most popular synthetic polymer manufactured across the globe. In comparison with other conventional pipes, these pipes are more flexible, lightweight and long-lasting which makes it easier to install, handle and transport them. These pipes are also resistant to fire, bending, extreme movement and bacterial contamination, and their production requires a significantly lesser amount of energy. As a result, they are gaining traction in Oman and replacing the cast-iron and galvanized pipes which were traditionally used across various industries in the country.
Market Drivers:
Since several decades, Oman has been dependent on the oil and gas industry for generating wealth. However, the reduction in global oil prices during 2014-2017 led to growing concerns in the Sultanate regarding alternative sources of income for stimulating the country’s economy. As a result, it has introduced various infrastructure projects and has implemented regulations to improve the inflow of foreign direct investments in the country. Oman is also experiencing robust growth in the tourism sector which can be attributed to its rich heritage. In addition to this, the inauguration of a new terminal in the Muscat airport has also increased the regional tourist inflow. Moreover, the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company awarded the Salalah Independent Water Project (IWP) to a consortium involving ACWA Power and Veolia Middle East in Dhofar. The project is the first standalone water desalination project in Dhofar and is projected to strengthen the demand for piping materials such as PVC pipes in the Governate.
IMARC Group’s latest report provides a deep insight into the Oman PVC pipes market covering all its essential aspects. This ranges from macro overview of the market to micro details of the industry performance, recent trends, key market drivers and challenges, SWOT analysis, Porter’s five forces analysis, value chain analysis, etc. This report is a must-read for entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, consultants, business strategists, and all those who have any kind of stake or are planning to foray into the Oman PVC pipes market in any manner.

China NdFeB magnet market reached a volume of 86,502 Tons in 2018, representing the world’s largest market. Neodymium – Iron – Boron (NdFeB) are the strongest types of permanent magnets commercially available. These magnets have the highest energy product for their mass compared to other permanent magnets and create the strongest magnetic field. This strong magnetic strength allows for significant product miniaturisation, improved product performance, super strong adhesive force and reduced manufacturing costs. NdFeB magnets are available in a wide range of shapes, sizes and grades and can be found in a variety of applications such as high-performance motors, brushless DC motors, magnetic separation, magnetic resonance imaging, sensors and loudspeakers.
The market for NdFeB magnets in China is strongly driven by the abundant availability of raw materials required for their production. China has the largest reserve of rare-earth minerals and holds a monopoly over the raw materials. However, since the regulations for exporting the raw materials have become stringent over the past few years, the industries that are dependent on these magnets have set up their plants in China in order to reduce their production costs. Some of the industries where the demand for these magnets is growing include electronics, medical devices, automobiles, wind industry, etc.

The Qatar PVC pipes market grew at a CAGR of 7% during 2013-2018. PVC, or polyvinyl chloride, is a safe, non-toxic material made from a combination of vinyl and plastic. As compared to their alternatives, pipes made from PVC are light in weight which makes them easier to transport and install. These pipes are flexible, durable and long-lasting in nature as they exhibit optimal resistance against bending and extreme movement. Other than this, they also possess anti-fouling, anti-rust and anti-mist properties, and are highly resistant to fire and bacterial contamination. On account of these characteristics, these pipes find applications in construction, cold water systems, vent systems, and drainage systems.
The upcoming international events are currently driving the demand for PVC pipes in Qatar. The country will host the World Championships in Athletics in 2019, the FIFA World Cup in 2022 and the World Aquatics Championships in 2023. To accommodate the tourist inflow attracted by these events, the government is focusing on the expansion of the hospitality sector. Apart from this, there has been a rise in the overall domestic production of PVC products in the country owing to the efforts for diversifying the nation’s economy under the Qatar National Vision 2030. Moreover, the rising consumption of desalinated water has created a substantial demand for large diameter plastic pipes such as UPVC/CPVC pipes. These pipes can bear high water pressure and offer resistance to rust and corrosion.
IMARC Group’s latest report provides a deep insight into the Qatar PVC pipes market covering all its essential aspects. This ranges from macro overview of the market to micro details of the industry performance, recent trends, key market drivers and challenges, SWOT analysis, Porter’s five forces analysis, value chain analysis, etc. This report is a must-read for entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, consultants, business strategists, and all those who have any kind of stake or are planning to foray into the Qatar PVC pipes market in any manner.
